Rolling Shutters
Like all shutter systems, the rolling shutters are available from many different manufacturers. Each offering their own unique ways of producing their products. Rolling shutter systems are a way of life in certain European countries. They offer security as well as protection from the sun's harmful UV rays. When this design was brought to the United States modifications were made to create a hurricane rated product which took the market by storm. (No pun intended) available in many different curtain designs, the rolling shutter can be utilized to cover and protect almost any type of opening. Weather manually, or electrically controlled the rolling shutter will provide years of trouble free service when maintained properly. One negative feature of certain manufacturers is the need for storm bars, or vertical posts once a span reaches a certain width. This design can inhibit the customer's view. To avoid this, a shutter system called the "end retention" rolling shutter can be used. In most cases a span of fourteen feet can be covered without the need for any vertical posts. Thus, no obstruction of view. This application is normally used in commercial applications; however it often times will be recommended for residential projects as well. Custom colors are available as well as architectural housing (box) designs. For those who wish to disguise the shutters during the pre-construction phase of building, everything can be built into the walls.
Aside from the normal operators for rolling shutter systems, many options are available for those customers who choose the convenience of remote control, or wind and sun sensors. Technology today has enabled the industry to develop many automated, options to control rolling shutter systems from the home, or from around the world with a signal from a cell phone, or timed responses generated from integrated computer boards. The rolling shutter systems truly are a technological marvel.

Other manufacturers offer bahama styles with either "fixed" or: articulating" louvers. Like all shutter systems, the way the product is built determines the longetivity of the product.
